The Melissa Cole Show is an environmental awareness talk/news/variety public access program that airs weekly on Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN) and Long Island Cablevision Channel 115 and is also available for online viewing. The show is hosted and produced by Long Island native and reigning Miss Earth New York Melissa Cole.

So what precisely is the show about?

The show has a heavy informational component, designed to help New Yorkers become familiarized and engaged in alternative styles of living, from yoga and acupuncture to vegetarian diets and environmental conciousness. Melissa also comments on the music climate of the day aside music contributor Kenneth Williams in Music Notes.

Because Melissa loves music, videos from indie music artists are periodically featured on the program. Though she began only taking submissions from local artists and bands, Melissa received an overwhelming outpouring of phenomenal videos from around the country (and the world!) that couldn’t be ignored and she has since opened up the music video pool to everyone.

Who’s been on the show?

We’ve featured music videos from Nyle, The New York Howl, The LaFontaines, EdibleRed, Rob Murat, Kidz In the Hall, Hugo, Ancient Tongue, Chris Bryant, Michael Benedetto, and Lifeline. Melissa also has featured a performance and an exclusive interview with Dres of the critically acclaimed ‘90s duo Black Sheep.

The shows’s theme song is “The Vulcan” by British hip hop/pop group The LaFontaines.

Sponsors

The Melissa Cole Show was recently recognized by Do Something and American Express with a grant. While the grant has helped increase the production quality and extend Melissa’s vision for the show, there are still bigger goals for expansion. Please read more about how you can become a sponsor.
